The People’s House: A White House Experience has been recognized with an Honor Award in Digital Experiences at the 2025 SEGD Global Design Awards, one of the most prestigious international competitions recognizing excellence in experiential design.
Presented by the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD), the annual awards celebrate projects that connect people to place through storytelling, innovation, and impact. This year’s competition received 284 entries from 151 firms across 18 countries, with only 30 projects selected for recognition.
Created through a collaboration between Ralph Appelbaum Associates, Cortina Productions, and Design & Production, for the White House Historical Association, The People’s House reimagines public access to the Executive Mansion through a series of immersive experiences.
“This immersive digital experience brings the White House to a human scale in a way that has never been done before” noted the SEGD jury. “A full-on, dynamic experience offering many routes into the White House: from 1:1 scale immersive spaces, face-to-face encounters, to a magical animated cut-through of the building—a massive white doll’s house—that affords a multiplicity of intriguing glimpses behind the scenes.”
Another juror praised the project’s balance of ambition and clarity: “This project has so much digital experience thinking in it, it might have run the risk of being just … too much. But the result is thoughtful, engaging, and constantly spot-on.”
The 2025 SEGD Global Design Awards were announced at the annual SEGD Conference in San Francisco presented by DCL. All award-winning projects will be featured on segd.org.
