Camouflage: Designed to Deceive developed by the International Spy Museum and produced by Cortina Productions is a thrilling and cutting-edge experience that will delight museum goers of all ages and backgrounds. The exhibit traces the evolution of camouflage from its most primal usage in nature, through its adaptation in culture and society, though, its evolution in spy craft and warfare today. All is not what it seems. But it never was.
To bring the hidden world of camouflage to life, the Museum hired Cortina Productions to create original films and an immersive installation that serves as the exhibition’s centerpiece. To open the exhibit is a visually stunning, large-format introductory film that explores the history and impact of camouflage across military strategy, art, culture, and the natural world.
The core of the exhibition features four high-resolution LED walls that surround visitors in realistic environments including snowy terrain, dense forests and desert landscapes, challenging them to detect what, or who, might be concealed in plain sight. As the landscapes transform, visitors must carefully scan their surroundings to uncover hidden figures, revealing firsthand how effective camouflage can be. You will be surprised at what you see and what you don’t.
A third film reveals how deepfakes are just the newest adaptation of a timeless game of deception tactics. Use your detection skills to see if you know what is real and what is designed to deceive.
Camouflage: Designed to Deceive marks the latest collaboration between Cortina Productions and the International Spy Museum, continuing a creative partnership dedicated to innovative storytelling and immersive museum experiences -that engage and inspire visitors.
