Holocaust Museum LA – Cortina Productions

Holocaust Museum LA

Cortina Productions served as media designer and producer for Holocaust Museum LA’s expanded permanent exhibition, creating eleven video and interactive experiences that deepen understanding of the Holocaust while fostering reflection, empathy, and resilience.

The journey begins in a new gallery anchored by The Spoken Names Memorial. Inside a historic boxcar, the names of Holocaust victims are read aloud by survivors—voices of those who endured carrying forward the memory of those who did not. An accompanying interactive allows visitors to search the full list of names and pause on individual lives within the scale of collective loss.

From there, visitors continue into the original Museum, where Cortina updated each interactive experience with archival photographs, historical documents, maps, and testimony. In the atrium, The Founders Video introduces the Museum’s origins and mission through transparent screens that illuminate artifacts displayed behind them. Elsewhere, a silent black-and-white animation evokes the Sobibor extermination camp with restraint and emotional clarity.

Together, these experiences bring survivor voices forward, create multiple pathways into difficult history, and support visitors of different ages and learning styles. The result is an exhibition grounded in remembrance—one that asks visitors to consider the enduring consequences of hatred, prejudice, and indifference, and the shared responsibility to protect human dignity.
