Cortina Works With American University to Produce New Welcome Center Film

American University, in Washington DC, recently revealed a renovated Welcome Center for prospective students and their families. The Center’s renovation is highlighted by a new theater to kick-off the students’ campus visit. Cortina Productions worked with the University to produce the main film for the Welcome Presentation. The program uses originally shot 4K video, photos, animated text, and music to introduce American University and highlight many of its diverse offerings and opportunities. Welcome Center staff also narrate the new program.

We’re excited to work on another project with AU and especially to have many of Cortina’s AU alumni work on the project.” – Amy L. Maddox, Principal, Cortina Productions and AU Alum

The project was particularly special for Benjamin Fall, a Junior Editor at Cortina and AU alumnus. Benjamin first came to Cortina in the Summer of 2016 as a participant in our Internship Program. After completing his senior year at AU’s School of Communication, he joined the team full-time. Within one year of Benjamin’s graduation, with the guidance of senior leadership, he was able to play a key role in the new Welcome Center film for his alma mater.

It has been both exciting and a privilege to be able to put my degree to use and to give back to my alma mater by creating a film to help encourage high school students to apply and attend AU. – Benjamin Fall, Junior Editor and AU Alumnus

The University celebrated the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 1, 2018. Special thanks to Sony for providing the 4K projectors for the presentation, and Whitlock for the A/V integration.
